District Scholastic Mat Tourney Starts at Forty Fort on Friday
About 85 boys will enter the District 2, P.I.A.A., wrestling championships which start next Friday evening in the Forty Fort High School gym. Schools entering representatives will be G.A.R., Plains, Kingston, Forty Fort and Wyoming Seminary Reserves. Each school may enter two boys in each weight class. Medals will be awarded to the first and second place winners in each division.
The preliminaries will start at 7 Friday evening, the semi-finals at 2 Saturday afternoon and the finals at 7:30 Saturday evening. Trophies for first and second place teams in the Wyoming Valley Interscholastic Conference will be awarded Saturday night. Five officials have been approved for the meet: Frank Walp, Arthur Kuchinskas, Robert Rosser, Thomas F. Burke and Robert Love. Joe McCracken and Arnold Kraft are Co-Chairman
of the tourney and Edward H. Miles will have charge of business details.
Tuesday is the last day for entries. Drawings will be made at a meetig Wednesday evening at 7:30 at Forty Fort High School.

Kingston and Forty Fort Matmen Capture Honors in District Meet

Kingston High School walked off with five first place and six seconds to take first honors at District 2, P.I.A.A., wrestling meet held Friday and yesterday at Forty Fort High School.
Forty Fort had four first place winners with Wyoming Seminary Reserves capturing the other. Plains' wrestlers captured three second places and Wyoming High one. G.A.R. failed to place any men.
Bach, 95-pounder and Waters, 145-pounds, both
Forty Fort boys, retained their titles. Cavanaugh of Kingston, 155-pound champion last year, won the 65-pound division title last night. Don Stevick , Kingston, who was the 95-pound titleholder in 1937, took 115-pound honors.
The biggest upset of the evening saw Ed Kulasowski , Kingston, hand James Riechert, Wyoming High heavyweight, his first defeat of the season.
Winners will go to Penn State for the state championships next Saturday. Brenner, who placed second in the 125-pound division, will represented the district since J. Davies of Wyoming Sem, the winner, will not be eligible.

2 VALLEY BOYS WIN MAT TITLES
Jennings, Kingston, And Waters, Forty Fort, Triumph
State College, March 18, 1939
Two Luzerne county boys won their final class matches at the two-day PIAA wrestling finals.
Tom Jennings, Kingston, decisioned Victor Jamison, Upper Darby, in extra periods, in the 135-pound class, and Tom Waters of Forty Fort decisioned Theodore Serafin, Trafford, in the 145-pound bracket.
George Custer, Canonsburg, 105-pound winner, was the only champion of last year to repeat, winning over Robert Kolezar , Kingston, in the 125-pound group. Andrew Puchaney, Canonsburg, decisioned Roland Schandle of Shamokin. Last year Schandle took Puchaney in the 115-pound class.
