Bill Fillistine became Meyers first State Champion when he decisioned Paul Troiano from Lansdown, 10-4 in the 138 lb. finals. Fillistine pinned his way into the finals with falls of 6:59 in the quarter-finals and 5:00 in the simi-finals over 1947 state runner-up Pete Polachek from Boswell. Fillistine became the thirteenth state champion from District 2, but the first from a school other than Forty Fort or Kington.
